About

Hi, I’m Lily, and I’m the voice behind The Vibrant Enthusiast. The ABOUT section of each blog is the section I cherish most, mainly because I find that opening up to the blogging world is the most frightening part of the entire blogging experience. It can be anxiety-inducing while also being rewarding, as you meet new friends and acquaintances in the process. To be perfectly honest, I’m having a really hard time coming up with things about my life that you would enjoy reading about. To get started, here are a few things about me that may be of interest to you.

Where are you from?

Oh, that’s a really difficult question. As a girl who has been bouncing from place to place throughout her life due to her father’s work, I have come to realize that I truly don’t know where I’m from. You could say that technically, I am from Chongqing, China….but I don’t feel like that counts because from as early as I can remember, I’ve been “from” Denver, Colorado. I acknowledge that you may ask where else I have been “from” so let’s just cover all of the bases. I was born in China, then raised in Denver, CO for the first 14 years of my life. From there, I moved to Arizona, then up to the great white north – specifically Ontario and later Alberta. Currently, I am living in between Kingston, ON where I am attending school, and Calgary, AB during the summer.

Favourite place?

I would have to say either Kenya or France, both for really different but wonderful reasons.

Favourite food?

I really really really love salad, which sounds so lame. But seriously, I am totally a salad girl all the way from caesar, to ones with fruit, to ones with even no lettuce at all!

Coffee or tea?

Tea!

Favourite TV shows?

One Tree Hill will always be a go-to for me. I really enjoy The Vampire Diaries (mainly for the storylines, not the fictional creatures), Grey’s Anatomy, and Gilmore Girls (for how similar Rory and Lorelai’s relationship is to mine and my mom’s).

Hobbies?

I am very active, so I love anything that gets my body moving. Early morning yoga on the dock is the best. I also like to fill my spare time (Which is very hard to come by, I may add) with all things fashion.

Speaking of fashion, what are your favourite brands?

For normal everyday wear I have a surplus of J. Crew, Club Monaco, Everlane, Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers, Lilly Pulitzer, and Aritzia with the occasional pieces from American Apparel, Anthropologie, and other similar stores. For more high-end/couture wear, I love Ellie Saab, Ted Baker, Tory Burch, Chloe, and Paolo Sebastian (mainly for his beauteous dresses).

Who’s your favourite “famous” couple?

Oh, without a question Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Pets?

Two dogs who are the lights of my life, and one crazy cat.

And finally, what made you start a blog, and what is the explanation behind your blog name?

I have mulled over the thought of having a blog for years now – it has always been kind of a goal of mine. To be honest, the expenses stopped me, because I’m a student and a blog is the last thing I should be spending my money on. Finally though, I decided to just do it; the expenses are not that wild, and there is no better time than the present. I am so excited to finally be embarking on this journey!

The idea behind my blog name is simply what it implies. It took me so long to settle on a name – I was asking anyone and everyone for suggestions. One day after lots of searching and no luck, the idea just came to me. I am a total enthusiast – an individual who is extremely interested in just about everything. I love to learn and I love the feeling of being excited about something new. The name just seemed fitting, especially because I am constantly taking up new activities and interests with passion and excitement. Like the blog says, a vibrancy for life.
