I’m someone who wears very minimal makeup on a day-to-day basis. Rarely will you find me wearing more than an eyebrow gel, a bit of mascara, a swipe of blush and some kind of lip product to give my pucker a little bit more life. If you need to know something about me it’s that foundation is the bane of my existence…I’ve always hated the feeling of product on my face and I think I most likely always will.
Glossier is trying to rethink the beauty industry with each product release. They believe in beauty staples that give you that “your look but better” feeling. To be totally honest, I was very skeptical about the company at the beginning, thinking that it was over-hyped. My thoughts were always “how can __ product be SO good?” I guess I’m just cautious when it comes to the beauty industry, especially because there are so many products out there!
Back in September I received my first Glossier package, filled with lots of real skincare and makeup treats. I know that I said I would put up a review of the products a couple of weeks after I received them, but I wanted to REALLY get some good use out of them before I posted my thoughts! So without further ado, here are my honest non-beauty blogger thoughts on the products that I purchased from the cult company.
The cloud paints that I received were Beam and Dusk. Beam (the top swatch that’s pictured) is described as a coral-peach while Dusk is a brownish-nude (however, I think Dusk is a lot less brown than people say). These guys are part of my everyday makeup routine and basically, I can’t leave the house without them. They’re perfect for winter as they’re a gel-like consistency, giving your skin a little bit of added hydration! Big win.
I got the Glossier Haloscope highlighter in the colour Quartz which gives off a pretty pink glow! This also is a part of my everyday makeup routine because it’s just so flattering…and natural-looking!!
(Swatches from left to right: Haloscope in Quartz, Cloud Paint in Beam, Cloud Paint in Dusk)
I’ve always used the Benefit Gimme Brow product to keep my brows in place because it requires very little time and effort. Boy Brow is pretty similar to my beloved Gimme Brow and is just so great at keeping your brows in place all day! Plus it has a nice minimalist package!
Okay, I can see why the Balm Dotcom is a cult classic. It sounds stupid to spend $15 on a lip balm but I assure you it’s totally worth it. I’ve barely made a dent in my mint one and I use it every night without fail. My Balm Dotcom has worked its way into my evening skincare routine and I can’t go without it anymore! I apply it before any kind of lip product for added moisture throughout the day.
Milky Jelly Cleanser
If we’re being totally honest here, I do like the Milky Jelly Cleanser but I just don’t see the hype in it. Yes, I love the scent but I just don’t feel like it’s doing very much for my skin. I am a fan of skincare products that tingle mainly because I know they’re truly working, so that may be why I don’t love this! I can see how this product works for some but I likely won’t be repurchasing. I can see why many absolutely LOVE it though, as it’s super gentle and doesn’t leave your skin feeling taut.
I recently put in an order to stock up on Balm Dotcoms and to try out the Body Hero lotion! What Glossier products have you tried and loved?
